The Village of "Valverde de la Vera" belongs to the "Comarca de la Vera" zone, wich is located at the proximities of "Gredos", near "Caceres" (north). It was declared a place with historic-artistic interest, and it is one of the most beautiful, typical and better conserved localities of all the region. Among its traditions is very well known "El Empalao", an exclusive for males, individual rite that can be witnessed in the streets at Holy Thursday´s night since five centuries.
