The Area and the Village

The Village of "Valverde de la Vera"( ), belongs to "La Vera" region, which is located at the proximities of "Gredos", in the north of "Caceres".

It was declared a place of historic-artistic interest, and it is one of the most beautiful, typical and better conserved villages of the region.

"El Empalao"( ) is one of its traditions more known. It is an individual rite, exclusively for men, that can be witnessed in its streets at Holy Thursday´s night since 16th century.
